Company History

Robert Bachi was the founder of the Bachi Company and was a leading contributor to automated coil winding. In 1978 Mr. Bachi founded the R&D division of the Bachi Company in egg Harbor, WI. Mr. Bachi sold the Bachi Company in 1990 and retained he assets of the R&D division renaming it Itasca Systems in 1991. William Weborg a long time employee of Bachi Company purchased the company in 2003. Since 1990 Itasca Systems has been a leading producer of high quality coil winding, automation machines, multi-spindle and heavy duty winders used worldwide.

In 2006 Itasca Systems was purchased by Charles Brumder and renamed Itasca Automation Systems to better reflect the direction the Company is currently pursuing. In October of 2006 Itasca Automation Systems purchased all the assets of GS Automation (GSA) of Geneva Switzerland. Included in this purchase was the Patent for Low Temperature Diamond Thermo Compression Bonding (DTHB). In addition Itasca received the technology for wire winding of hyper fine wire. Itasca Automation and several of the former employees of GSA formed a new Company in Geneva; DTHB Automation, SALR (DTHBA). Itasca Automation will be manufacturing and selling DTHB heads beginning November of 2007.

Today Itasca Automation Systems designs, engineers, manufactures, integrates and imports various automated machines for the coil winding industry. Our design and manufacturing engineers provide solutions for our customer’s specific application using our standard off the shelf table top M100 CNC winder or sophisticated automation systems integrating whatever is necessary to automate our customer’s application. Our products include automated multi-spindle winders, pin insertion, fluxing, soldering, taping, heat shrinking, terminal insertion, wire sleeving, heat staking and virtually anything our customers need to automate their coil winding application.

Our facilities are located on the beautiful Door County Peninsula in the picturesque Village of Egg Harbor. Door County is known internationally for its custom yacht building and ship building facilities. Door County is one of the leading Cherry growing counties in the U.S.A.
